Alzheimer's disease is the most common form of dementia accounting for 60 to 80 percent of the diagnosed cases of dementia. It is a progressive disease that affects a person's memory and ability to perform day to day tasks. 6.7 million Americans are living with Alzheimerís disease. By 2050, this number is projected to rise to nearly 13 million. While there is currently no cure for Alzheimer's disease, there are many treatments that target the symptoms of the disease. On average, a person with Alzheimer's lives 4 to 8 years after diagnosis but can live as long as 20 years, depending on other factors.
